A minimum of 120 people were hospitalised after toxic chemicals from an expired industrial gas cylinder contaminated the air in Mundadu, a surburb of Kano.

The expired gas is also said to have spread to close by neighborhoods in the area, Daily Trust reports.

According to local residents, the contamination occured on Friday evening when one Saifullahi gathered scrap metals and crushed for recycling.
