Governor Biodun Oyebanji has sworn in ten newly appointed permanent secretaries in the Ekiti State civil service. During the ceremony held in Ado-Ekiti, he reminded the appointees that they were chosen strictly on merit and not through political influence.
Oyebanji explained that the candidates went through a competitive computer-based test and a final interview stage. Out of 141 officers screened, only 28 qualified for interviews, from which the first ten top scorers were appointed. According to him, the process was designed to reposition the civil service and ensure that only capable individuals are entrusted with key responsibilities.

He stressed that his administration will not compromise merit, transparency, or accountability. “Appointments into top positions will not be influenced by politics, religion, gender, or personal connections,” the governor said. He added that the era where appointments were given as political favours is over in Ekiti.
Oyebanji urged the new permanent secretaries to collaborate with government ministries and deliver results that will support the state’s ongoing development drive. He noted that the success of his government’s shared prosperity agenda depends largely on the effectiveness and integrity of civil service leadership.
He also reminded them that they will oversee public funds and influence thousands of lives through policy implementation, urging them to exercise patience, discipline, and professionalism.
