Oyo Postpones Schools Reopening For Terminal Classes

The Oyo State COVID-19 Task force has postponed the reopening date of schools for terminal classes; Primary 6, Junior Secondary Schools (Class 3), and Senior Secondary Schools (Class 3), in the state from June 29 to July 6.

The state had earlier announced the reopening of schools for the above mentioned classes on the 29th of June. However, the initial date was reviewed in view of the current realities in the state.

A statement from the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Taiwo Adisa, indicated that the Commissioner of Education, Olasunkanmi Olaleye, alongside with other Executive councils have inspected schools in the state to determine the level of compliance with COVID-19 protocols.

According to the statement, teachers are to resume on June 29 while students in the critical classes are to resume on the 6th of July. This is based on the new modalities and arrangement.

Meanwhile, Oyo state has recorded over 900 cases of COVID-19, with 291 recoveries and 9 deaths.
