Veteran Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwor, has strongly denied recent allegations claiming she illegally took over a parcel of land belonging to a widow and her late husband.
The claims, made by the widow and her daughter, quickly spread across social media platforms, drawing public attention and sparking backlash.
Addressing the controversy in a lengthy statement posted on her official Instagram page, Ozokwor clarified that she legally acquired the land in question back in 2010—with the full knowledge and consent of the widow.

According to her, the woman had personally reached out to her agent to help sell the land, which she later purchased.
The actress explained that tensions began last year when the widow attempted to resell a portion of the land without her knowledge. In response, Ozokwor said she fenced off the property to protect her legal ownership, a move that allegedly led to the online accusations.
Describing the accusations as “malicious and fraudulent,” the screen legend accused the widow and her daughter of trying to manipulate public sympathy by exploiting her celebrity status. She also condemned bloggers and online platforms for publishing the story without verifying the facts.
“I bought this land 15 years ago with the full awareness of the previous owner. She even contacted my agent to find a buyer,” Ozokwor said. “When she later tried to sell part of the land without my approval, I did what was necessary to protect what I legally own.”
Vowing to clear her name through legal channels, Ozokwor emphasized that social media is not the place to resolve legal disputes. “I am taking this matter to court. My name, image, and livelihood are on the line, and I will not allow anyone to destroy what I’ve spent decades building,” she declared.
She expressed gratitude to her fans for their unwavering support and concluded with a bold message: “Let the truth be heard—meet me in court.”
