The internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) worsened on Sunday as the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, formally withdrew from all reconciliation agreements previously reached within the party.
Wike accused Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, of being the chief cause of the party’s ongoing problems, stating that “non-adherence to agreements reached was the bane of the party, and that he was the chief culprit of this anomaly.”
In a detailed statement, Wike also implicated Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah and other key PDP leaders in acts of betrayal, dishonesty, and serial violations of party agreements. He traced the root of the turmoil to unresolved tensions following the 2023 general elections.

Wike described a series of meetings involving top PDP stakeholders, including governors and former Senate President Bukola Saraki, aimed at resolving the disputes.
Despite these efforts, he alleged Makinde sabotaged progress by orchestrating moves against agreed party decisions — including attempts to install an acting national secretary in violation of previous agreements.

Highlighting a recent aborted zonal elective congress due to procedural irregularities involving the party secretariat, Wike called the developments “provocative and annoying,” further undermining party cohesion.
Expressing deep frustration, Wike declared he would no longer abide by previous accords and vowed to “fight on until justice is attained.”
Efforts to reach Governor Makinde’s camp for comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
