Forum accuses APC of divisive governance, pledges PDP as credible alternative.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has warned Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, and other party leaders against obstructing preparations for the party’s national convention slated for November 15, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The warning was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the forum’s 7th meeting in Gusau, Zamfara State, on Saturday. The governors declared full support for the resolutions of the party’s 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) held in July, stressing that the convention will proceed as scheduled.
Chaired by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, the meeting discussed national security issues, threats to democracy, and preparations for the Ibadan convention. The forum praised members who resisted political distractions and defections, reaffirming that the PDP remains a credible alternative for Nigerians seeking better governance.
The governors accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of worsening economic hardship and deepening divisions in the country.
Meanwhile, Wike, during a television appearance on August 19, restated his rejection of the PDP zoning panel led by Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri and insisted on recognising Chief Dan Orbih as the authentic National Vice Chairman for the South-South.

He warned that fresh crises could erupt if the party disregarded the Calabar congress that produced Orbih.
Wike’s growing rift with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has further widened cracks within the party. Despite serving in the APC-led federal cabinet, the FCT minister continues to dismiss allegations of anti-party activity.
