The former president stressed that the PDP remains a cornerstone of Nigeria’s democratic journey and noted that it is the only surviving original political party established since 1998.

“The PDP has been a critical contributor to our democracy since 1999. I have benefited immensely from this party, serving as Deputy Governor, Governor, Vice President, and President. I remain grateful and committed to its growth,” Jonathan said.

He urged party leaders to put national interest above personal ambitions, adding that strong political parties are vital for democratic stability and development.

Earlier, Turaki assured Jonathan that the PDP is pursuing a comprehensive “Rebirth Agenda” aimed at reconciliation, unity, and repositioning the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Our focus is to return power to the people and rebuild the PDP as the party of the majority of Nigerians,” Turaki said, adding that aggrieved members were being engaged to strengthen internal cohesion.

The delegation included former Niger State Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, Prof. Jerry Gana, Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi, Hajiya Zainab Maina, Chief Mike Oghiadome, Mohammed Bello Adoke, SAN, and other NWC members.
