On Sunday, Spain’s Pedri surpassed Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo’s record during Spain’s Euro 2024 victory over Georgia in the last-16.

According to beIN SPORTS, Pedri set a new record for the most major tournament appearances by a European player aged 21 or under. At 21 years and 218 days old, the Barcelona star made his 13th European Championship or World Cup appearance in this match.

This was also Pedri’s fourth start in the Euros knockout stages while aged 21 or under, the most by any player in this age group. He surpassed Ronaldo’s 12 tournament appearances for Portugal before turning 22, achieved at Euro 2004 and the 2006 World Cup.
