Portugal’s veteran defender Pepe reflected on his team’s Euro 2024 quarter-final defeat to France, where they lost 5-3 on penalties.

Following the Euro 2024 match, Pepe addressed the media, emphasizing the need for Portugal to undergo a period of “pain and sadness.”

“We need to go through this process of pain and sadness first,” said the former Real Madrid star, as quoted by Ojogo. “It’s a part of football. We all strive to bring joy to our country, but unfortunately, football has its unpredictable moments.”
