Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, has explained why he missed the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari, held in Daura, Katsina State, on Tuesday.
Speaking during Fidau prayers organised for the late president on Wednesday, Obi attributed his absence to logistical difficulties.
“It was difficult for me to get to Daura yesterday. There was no flight. Anyone who comes even tomorrow is still part of the mourning,” Obi stated.

Obi later joined other prominent figures — including former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai — at the Daura graveyard, where they offered prayers and condoled with the family of the deceased leader.
The former Labour Party flagbearer’s absence on Tuesday had sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some critics questioning his commitment to national unity.
