“At no time have I authorised any individual, business or online platform to use my name, image or identity for profit-making ventures,” Obi said, describing such acts as fraudulent, deceptive, and aimed solely at exploiting public trust.

He urged members of the public to disregard any online advertisements or business initiatives claiming his endorsement, noting that all verified information would be released only through his official and verified social media handles.

Obi Raises Concern Over Widespread Impersonation

Obi expressed concern about the growing trend of online impersonation and fake endorsements, which he said have become rampant in recent months.

His latest statement follows several incidents where scammers reportedly used AI-generated photos, deepfake videos, and cloned social media pages to mislead unsuspecting Nigerians into fraudulent investment or charity schemes.

“Despite earlier clarifications from my aides, some individuals have continued to exploit my identity,” Obi added, urging the public to report such violations to law enforcement agencies for investigation.

Authorities Warn on Digital Scams

Regulators and law enforcement agencies in Nigeria have also raised alarms about the rising cases of digital fraud involving celebrity identities and political figures.

Authorities advised citizens to always confirm the authenticity of online business ventures, especially those claiming endorsement from prominent personalities.
