The Presidency has likened the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, to the 45th president of the United States, Donald Trump.

This statement was made by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Bola Tinubu, Temitope Ajayi, on Wednesday.

Ajayi drew parallels between Obi and Trump, stating that both politicians use negative language to describe their countries and rile up their bases. He wrote on his social media handle, “Peter Obi is the Nigeria version of Donald Trump. Like Obi, Trump will use the most negative epithets imaginable to describe a country he wants to lead again just to make a point and rile up his base.”

Ajayi also commended Vice President Kamala Harris for her performance in the US presidential debate against Trump, stating that she “prosecuted Trump very well” and “convincingly won the debate”.
