The Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, revealed that he was scheduled to board the Abuja-Kaduna train that was attacked on Monday, March 28, but had to cancel due to a phone call.
Some passengers were killed, others were injured, and many are still missing as a result of the attack.
Speaking on Saturday, April 2, when Igbo leaders gathered in Enugu under the auspices of the Ahamefuna Socio-cultural Organization, Igwe Achebe stated that he did not board the train due to a phone call inviting him to an emergency.
“I was supposed to be on the train last Monday because I had a meeting I was supposed to attend,” he explained. I was already at the train station when I received a phone call over an emergency and I had to leave the station to attend to it.” The monarch decried the increasing insecurity situation in the country.
