The Oloduwa Primary School built by the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Commission, DESOPADEC in Opuama, Warri North Local Government Area, has collapsed.
The collapsed was announced by a youth leader in the community, Comrade John Olokpa, who called for a swift action from the state government and stakeholders in the Council.

He revealed that the pupils have no hope of returning to school anytime soon unless the structure is rebuilt as soon as possible.

Comrade John he decried the sorry state of Opuama and it’s lack of attention from government despite being a major producer of oil in the state.
He wrote;
“This is Oloduwa primary school opuama built by the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission(DESOPADEC).
“The building collapsed on Friday immediately the pupils closed for the day’s learning activities. I want to use this medium to appeal to our proactive, listening and smart governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Hon. Aduge Okorodudu, Executive Chairman Warri North LGA, Delta state Commissioner of Education, Rt. Hon. Patrick Ukah and Hon. Rev. Michael Diden Ejele, Chairman DESOPADEC, to look into this pathetic incident as a matter of urgency to send a team of engineers to inspect and reconstruct the school.
“Opuama is one of the highest oil producing communities in Delta state and also the highest in warri North LGA, but lacks government infrastructures.
“As we speak, the pupils have no hope of learning on Monday and as we all know, the academic session is running out,” he added.

Ijaw communities in Warri North have since decried an alleged neglect and marginalization by government of all tiers.
Most of these communities bear the brunt of oil exploration activities yet, are not given the needed attention. Basic amenities such as portable water, hospital, schools and roads still elude the people till date.
