Civil servants under the federal government in Abuja on Wednesday were caught up in a rushed to get their COVID-19 vaccine jab.

The development follows the restriction of persons without proof of vaccination and negative PCR test results from accessing the federal secretariat in Abuja by security operatives.

Members of the federal civil service and the general public without proof of vaccination were deprived from accessing government facilities.

The restriction is as a result of the December 1 deadline issued to the workers by the Boss Mustapha-led presidential steering committee on COVID-19.

The committee had stated that civil servants without proof of vaccination and negative PCR test results would not be allowed to access government buildings from December 1, 2021.

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria had appealed to the PSC to extend the deadline till March 2022, a move the Committee described as “impossible.”

The PSC stood it’s ground as invaccinated workers were barred by security operatives, leading to a rush to be for covid-19 vaccine jabs by the workers.
