Some protesters on Tuesday, stormed the facility belonging to Chevron’s Escravos Gas To Liquid (EGTL) project in Delta State.
The Angry Protesters from the Ugborodo community further shut down the facility due to Chevron’s alleged non-implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and other demands.
One of the key requests made by the Protesters was for the company to fulfill its agreement with the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPRC) to implement Ikpere-HCDT.
Also, they expressed dissatisfaction with the company’s employment practices, claiming that jobless indigenes were being overlooked in favor of the superintendents’ families.

The Protesters insisted on Chevron’s adherence to host community rules and regulations.
They said:
“… The superintendents now employ their families instead of jobless indigenes.
“… Cannot employ only the 2019/2020 section of workers in the ongoing turnaround maintenance.”
