Speaking at the event, the governor described his defection as a journey of faith, stressing that his decision was guided by the long-term interest of Plateau State rather than personal ambition.
“The journey we are embarking on is a journey of faith, and I strongly believe Plateau will reap the dividends of this union,” Mutfwang said.

He assured residents that his administration would remain inclusive and people-focused, despite the change in political party, and urged citizens to stay united.
Addressing skeptics, the governor called for patience and calm.
“I know there are skeptics, but I say be patient. Time will reveal everything. To the fearful, I say take courage, fear no more because we have come for good,” he added.
Mutfwang also expressed appreciation to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for providing him with a platform earlier in his political career, describing the experience as part of his growth.
The governor further thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he called his “deep love” for Plateau State and pledged his support for the president’s re-election bid in 2027.
