Police Ambush Robbery Gang, Nab Member in Ogun | Daily Report Nigeria

The Ogun Police Command on Friday ambushed a robbery gang and arrested a member in the Ilese-Ijebu area of the state.

The suspect was said to have been nabbed in the course of carrying out a robbery.

Items recovered from the captured suspect include a locally-made gun with one live cartridge.

The robbery gang were trying to escape at the sight of the police, but one of them was so unfortunate to be captured following assistance from the community members.

DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Police spokesperson revealed the arrest via a statement on Saturday.

According to Oyeyemi, police were kept apprised of the incident at Silva estate, Odomalasa of Ilese-Ijebu through a phone call at about 12:30 midnight.

Subsequently, they fell into action which caused one of the robbers to be apprehended while others fled.

Oyeyemi said: “Upon the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer, Ilese Ijebu, CSP Amuda Bolaji, mobilised a patrol team to the scene.”

Meanwhile, DCP Abiodun Alamutu, Acting CoP in Ogun, has requested the transfer of the suspect to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for enquiries.

He also directed a massive tracking operation for members of the gang who escaped police arrest to be tried.
