Nigeria’s anti-gay law passed in 2014, imposed a 14-year prison term for same-sex sexual activities.
Checks revealed in December 2019, 47 men were arrested in Lagos for publicly displaying affection for members of the same sex were arraigned in court.
However, all of them pleaded not guilty and were granted bail.
Also, the charges against them were later dismissed due to a “lack of diligent prosecution” by the police.
