The Niger State Police Command has arrested twelve suspected miscreants and recovered five bags of Indian hemp during coordinated raids on criminal hideouts across various parts of Minna, the state capital.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the arrests were made in the early hours of June 1, 2025, during an operation carried out by operatives attached to the Central Police Division in collaboration with local vigilantes.

The raid covered several black spots, including Paida, Sabon-Gari, Gwari Market, and Abdulsalam Quarters. It was in Abdulsalam Quarters that five bags of suspected cannabis were discovered in the home of one Saifulahi Abubakar, 18, who claimed the substances belonged to a man identified as Dahiru, who is currently on the run.
Among those apprehended were Alhassan Yusuf, 25, of Barkin-Sale, Abubakar Shehu, 20, and Hashiru Hamza, 20, both of Kasuwan Gwari. Police noted that some of the suspects already have pending cases at the station.
“All suspects are under investigation and will be charged in court accordingly after investigations,” SP Abiodun stated.

The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one Ezeoke Chidera, a native of Egugho Ezzagu in Ishielu Local Government Area, for the alleged murder of a septuagenarian, Mrs. Awoke Rose.
In a statement issued to journalists, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Joshua Ukandu, revealed that the suspect and the deceased lived in the same compound, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the motive behind the gruesome act.
