Police Arrest 18-Year-Old Apprentice for Allegedly Killing Boss in Anambra State

The police in Anambra State have arrested an 18-year-old apprentice for allegedly killing his boss in Onitsha.

According to the Anambra State Police Command spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the incident happened on the morning of Monday, February 16. The deceased, simply identified as IK, was said to have scolded his apprentice over repeated bad behaviour, including allegedly stealing shop money, taking drugs, and returning home late at night.

The disagreement reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation. During the altercation, the suspect allegedly picked up a pestle from the kitchen and struck his boss on the head. IK reportedly collapsed and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors confirmed him dead.

SP Ikenga confirmed that the suspect has been arrested and is currently in police custody, while the pestle used in the attack has been recovered as evidence. He added that investigations are ongoing and the suspect will be charged to court after the investigation is concluded.

The police also urged members of the public to resolve disputes peacefully and avoid resorting to violence.
