Police Arrest 7 Suspects in Osun for Possession of Human Body Parts | Daily Report Nigeria

Seven suspects have been reportedly arrested for possessing human body parts in Osun State.

The suspects, who were paraded at the Police Command headquarters in Osogbo, included a mortuary attendant who allegedly sold human remains to native doctors.

According to the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer (DPPRO), Giwa-Alade Emmanuel, the suspects were arrested after a tip-off from a member of the public.

Johnson Daniel, a mortuary attendant confessed to selling portions of human remains deposited at the mortuary to native doctors.

Daniel also admitted to conspiring with another mortuary attendant to sell water used in bathing corpses to interested native doctors.

Searches conducted at the residences of the suspects led to the recovery of fragments of substances suspected to be human skulls, as well as a female pant and notebooks containing instructions on ritual practices.

Emmanuel said:

“The above named suspects were arrested upon a credible information from a good spirited individual that, one Johnson Daniel ‘m’ a mortuary attendant at lpetu-ljesa sells portions of human remains deposited at the mortuary to native doctors whose names are listed above.

The said suspects use these remains gotten from the mortuary attendant (Johnson Daniel) for different ritual purposes. Daniel also confessed that, he conspired with one other mortuary attendant named Adetunji Okunade ‘m’ to sell remnant of water used in bathing corpses to interested native doctors.

“In the course of investigation, search were conducted at the residences of these suspects which led to the recovery of fragment of substances suspected to be human skull at Asaka Rauf ‘m’ and Oladapo Hammed ‘m’ residences while a female pant and a note book containing instructions on ritual practices were recovered from Balogun Temitope Asimiyu’s residence.”

According to the DPPRO, the suspects have been charged to court and are facing serious charges related to the possession of human body parts.
