The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man, James Osita, over the alleged defilement of a 13-year-old girl in Ile-Oluji, the headquarters of Ile-Oluji Local Government Area of Ondo State, in a case that has sparked concern among residents of the community.

According to community sources, the suspect allegedly abused the minor on several occasions before residents alerted the authorities, leading to his arrest by police operatives in Ile-Oluji.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed that the incident was reported by a concerned individual identified as Uchena, prompting swift police action.

Following the report, operatives of the Ondo State Police Command arrested the suspect and ensured the victim was rescued and placed in protective care.

DSP Jimoh revealed that the suspect is currently in police custody and has reportedly confessed to the offence during preliminary interrogation. He added that the case file would be forwarded for prosecution once investigations are concluded.

“This arrest aligns with our commitment to gender-sensitive policing, strengthens accountability, and improves our strategic response to sexual and gender-based violence,” Jimoh stated.

He further assured residents that the command remains firm in protecting vulnerable persons and restoring confidence in public safety.

“The Ondo State Police Command remains resolute in translating this vision into visible actions that build public trust and enhance community safety,” he said.
