Another X user said:

“Release the national pro of NANSand the deputy senate President of nans or we shut down the Lagos state police headquarters with immediate effect @jidesanwoolu @NigeriapolicePR #unilagprotest.”

NANS had notified police on Tuesday of plans to hold a peaceful protest at the University of Lagos on September 6, 2023.

The union warned the Department of State Services, DSS not to prevent students from exercising their right to protest because it was a universally recognized human right.

However, the latest information by a source revealed that police disrupted the protests, opened fire on demonstrators and arrested some students.

The source said:

“Update: @activistfemi, Philip Olatinwo, and two others have been arrested by @PoliceNG after shooting at Unilag students protesting over fee hike.”
