The Lagos State Police Command has initiated a special investigation into the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.
Idowu Owohunwa, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command has ordered a 13-man special investigation team to look into the matter.
According to Owohunwa, the investigation was not limited to any specific parties and aimed to identify the cause of death, including the possibility of foul play.

He added that the police were committed to achieving a comprehensive investigation with the help of international resources such as the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL).
The Command has assured the public that anyone involved in Mohbad’s death will be identified and brought to justice.
The Police Commissioner spoke during a press briefing on September 18th, 2023.
He said:
“Wherever you are in this world do not forget, we have unique access to INTERPOL. We do not want to mention specific names but everybody linked to the death of Mohbad will be identified and they will be brought to establish their level of involvement.
“We don’t want to isolate specific characters, all facts including videos and other things that have been mentioned. I don’t want to reduce the investigation to a specific name at this moment. Let’s proceed with the investigation and as we have it, to identify individuals, we could pick on whoever within the constraints of the law, and they would be required to come and clarify.”
The parents of the late singer were also present at the briefing.
