  • The police have arrested a couple, Lukman and Abosede, and a 62-year-old woman, Sabira Izuorah, for allegedly trafficking children in Ondo and Osun States.

  • The suspects confessed to abducting children and selling them to Izuorah at the rate of ₦1 million per child.

  • The police commissioner stated that efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue other missing children.

A child trafficking ring has been busted by the police, leading to the arrest of a couple, Lukman and Abosede, and a 62-year-old woman, Sabira Izuorah.

The suspects were arrested for allegedly trafficking children in Ondo and Osun States.

According to the Commissioner of Police in the State, Wilfred Afolabi, “A case of a missing child was reported at Okuta Elerin-Nla Division in Akure.

A complainant reported that Abosede deceived her by claiming she wanted to buy biscuits for the baby.”

The police commissioner stated that during interrogation, the suspects admitted to abducting the child and other children from Ondo and Osun States and selling them to Izuorah at the rate of ₦1 million per child.

One of the suspects, who claimed to be a bricklayer, stated that Izuorah introduced him to the business after training him, and since then, he had been giving her children.

“She normally gives us ₦500,000 for each child that we bring to her,” he said.

The police commissioner added that efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue other missing children, and the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
