Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command on Monday foiled a suicide attempt by a man who climbed a radio mast in Abuja.
According to a statement released by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, the man, identified as Shuaibu Alhaji Yushau, was apprehended at ASO Radio in Katampe after concerned citizens reported the incident.

The statement revealed that Yushau climbed the mast with a placard, protesting the current condition in the country. However, through professional and persistent persuasion, police operatives successfully prevented him from taking his own life.
“At approximately 9:10 a.m., we received a distress call from concerned citizens reporting a young man who had climbed a high mast with a placard at ASO Radio in Katampe.
The FCT Police Command promptly dispatched officers to the scene,” the statement read.

“Through professional and persistent persuasion, our operatives successfully prevented the individual, later identified as Shuaibu Alhaji Yushau, from taking his own life. Yushau admitted to having observed the mast for about a week before making his climb. He is currently in police custody and in stable condition.”
The police assured that further updates on the case will be provided as more information becomes available.
