Police Nab Nine Suspected Thugs, Recover Weapons in Minna

The Niger State Police Command’s Anti-Thuggery Squad has apprehended nine individuals linked to violent activities and recovered dangerous weapons in different parts of Minna.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said in a statement that the arrests followed a sting operation carried out on August 26, 2025, between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. in the Soje A, Soje B, and Kpakungu areas of the state capital.

He explained that the raid was based on credible intelligence and formed part of ongoing efforts by the police to curb thuggery and related crimes in the state.

The suspects, whose ages range from 14 to 27, were identified as Sani Musa, Nura Musa, Idris Aliyu, Ibrahim Mohammed, Abubakar Mohammed, Abdulhadi Mustapha, Jamilu Mustapha, Bilal Saminu, and Jafar Saminu.

Items recovered from them include two solar batteries suspected to have been stolen, five knives, several cutlasses, and a digger.

The nine suspects are currently undergoing investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna.

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have killed 12 members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) in a special commando raid supported by aerial surveillance from the Air Component Command.

Lt. Col. Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, confirmed the development in a statement, noting that the troops also cleared Tamsu Ngamdu, Dalakaleri, and Gaza of terrorist activities.
