Police Officers Arrested For Extorting N29m From Businessman

Police officers accused of extorting N29,000,000 from a businessman have been arrested by the Nigerian Police Force.

This was confirmed by the National Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Command, Olumuyiwa Adejobi in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

The arrest follows an alarm raised on January 25, 2024, by an X user @HarrisonBbi18, who narrated how some police officers abducted the businessman on his way to one of his sites in Abuja.

The suspects reportedly searched the victim’s cell phone and detained him until he transferred the entire amount in his bank account to them.

However, Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Tuesday released an update on the incident in a post on his Official X, revealing that some of the suspects have been arrested as the investigation is still ongoing.

Adejobi shared the post and wrote: “We are making headway on this matter, and justice will be served, as some suspects have been arrested. Hakuna matata.”
