Imo State Police Command has arrested some of its operatives for allegedly extorting the sum of N60,000 from a traveler at the Sam Mbakwe Airport in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
Mike Abattam, the State police spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, stating that the officers took the sum of N60,000 from one Victor Aguwah while he was traveling to his village at Mbaise from the airport.

The State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Hussaini, who condemned the act said the culprits have been identified, arrested, and detained at the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department (SCIID).
He added that the officers would face disciplinary action in an orderly room trial.
According to initial reports, the victim was returning from a journey on Tuesday when the officers accosted and extorted N60,000 from him via a POS as he could not afford the initial amount they demanded from him.
