The police in Delta State have raided an alleged hideout for commercial s3x workers
in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.

Police revealed the development came during a bust on some identified criminal hideouts, saying it arrested ninety-four women suspected commercial s3x workers.

Police spokesman, Bright Edafe said fifty-nine male suspects were also nabbed with the female during the raid carried out last Monday in the Evwreni community on the East-West Road and some “black spots” in Ughelli.

Edafe revealed a statement on Sunday, adding that the operation was carried out by the operatives drawn from the command’s various operations departments and led by the commander, Dragon Patrol, CSP Imade Graha.

He said:

“They embarked on an intensive confidence-building patrol, stop and search, and show of force while acting on credible intelligence report.

“During the operation, 59 male suspects and 94 female suspected to be commercial s3x workers were arrested.”

Furthermore, the ninety-four individuals suspected of engaging in commercial s3x work have been charged in court including some male suspects.

Those not charged have been transferred to the command’s headquarters for further investigation, according to Edafe.

He added that the suspects were found in possession of several items, including three pump action guns, one locally-made cut-to-size gun, one dagger, and ten live cartridges.

Authorities recovered one suspected stolen and unregistered Toyota Venza, one unregistered Mercedes Benz, and one Peugeot car with Registration Number: KJA 98 GE.

The police also seized a significant amount of illegal drugs and substances.

The suspects were also found in possession of nine cups of loud, codeine syrup, sachets of swivel, twenty capsules of tramadol, and thirty-one wraps of weed suspected to be Indian hemp.

According to the command’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Operations, Johnson Adenola, the massive raids were conducted in response to the recurring incidences of kidnapping and armed robbery in the affected areas. The DCP has directed the team to sustain the tempo and restore sanity in the areas.
