The Anambra State Police Command announced the recovery of two decomposed female bodies believed to be victims of a kidnapping incident involving Cameroonian women. The bodies were found in the Omambala River, Anambra West Local Government Area, on the evening of November 28, 2025.

Three Cameroonian women had been reported missing for some time, raising fears that they were abducted. Following the disappearance, police launched investigations that led to the arrest of two suspects, Nonso Augustine Akpeh (37) and Kingsley Akpeh (44), who reportedly provided information to authorities. The third suspect, Uchenna Nicholas Mmadu, remains at large.

According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, the recovery was carried out in collaboration with local volunteers and professional river divers.

“During the operation, our team recovered two decomposed female bodies believed to be victims of the kidnapping. The families positively identified the deceased as Mrs. Bognou Alice and Miss Sandra,” Ikenga said.

Both bodies have been deposited in a mortuary for further forensic examination and investigative procedures.

The State Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, extended condolences to the families and assured the public of intensified search operations to recover the remaining missing victim. He also ordered all units to strengthen efforts to apprehend the third suspect to ensure justice is served.

“Our commitment to protecting lives and maintaining security in Anambra State remains unwavering. We will ensure the full weight of the law is applied,” Orutugu added.

Meanwhile, in Delta State, the police arrested Michael Ezenwa, a suspected serial killer and prison escapee linked to multiple violent crimes, including the murder of a woman during a robbery on October 23, 2025. The suspect was apprehended on October 24 while attempting to sell a stolen phone belonging to the victim.
