Police Recover Stolen RAV-4, School Bus in Anambra, Delta Joint Operation

Police Recover Stolen RAV-4, School Bus in Anambra, Delta Joint Operation | Daily Report Nigeria

The Anambra State Police Command has announced the recovery of two vehicles suspected to have been stolen by armed hoodlums in different parts of the state.

One of the vehicles, a red 2005 Toyota RAV-4 with registration number YAB 122 AZ, was recovered in Obosi, while the other—a school bus belonging to SUSU College—was traced and found abandoned in Asaba, Delta State.

This was disclosed in a press release issued by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Saturday.

According to the statement, the recoveries were made during two intelligence-led operations carried out on July 12, 2025, in Anambra and Delta states.

Ikenga stated:
“Two stolen vehicles were successfully recovered on July 12, 2025, in separate intelligence-led operations in Anambra and Delta States.”

He further revealed that the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, praised the coordination between both state commands and emphasized the significance of security synergy.

“The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended the swift synergy between both Anambra and Delta Commands and reaffirmed the importance of continued cooperation between sister security agencies in tackling crimes that transcend state boundaries,” the statement read.

“Investigation into the circumstances surrounding the theft is ongoing, and efforts are intensified to apprehend the perpetrators,” it added.

Providing more insight into the recovery in Obosi, SP Ikenga explained that swift action by police personnel and local vigilantes led to the successful retrieval of the Toyota RAV-4.

“Acting swiftly on the intelligence-led information, the Divisional Police Officer of Obosi led a team of police operatives, in collaboration with local vigilante personnel, in a coordinated search and recovered an abandoned 2005 model Toyota RAV-4, red in colour, with registration number YAB 122 AZ (Abuja) at along Fresh Air Hotel Road, near Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Odume-Isiowulu, Obosi,” he said.

He added that the vehicle had been stolen by three armed men in the early hours of July 11 in Oba, a nearby town.

In another coordinated effort linked to a case previously reported on July 6, the school bus belonging to SUSU College was found in Delta State.

“In a related development, and furtherance of a prior case reported on July 6, 2025, the Anambra State Police Command, working closely with the Delta State Police Command, has successfully recovered an abandoned school bus belonging to SUSU College,” Ikenga stated.

He noted that officers attached to the Isiowulu Police Division had been following leads when they received credible intelligence on the vehicle’s location.

“The police officers attached to the Isiowulu Police Division, who had been investigating the case, acted on credible intelligence received in the early hours of July 12, 2025. The vehicle was found abandoned opposite the Magistrate Court, Asaba, Delta State,” he said.

The command assured the public that investigations are ongoing to ensure those responsible for the thefts are brought to justice.

Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, in collaboration with Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, have apprehended two suspects and recovered a large cache of illegal arms during a coordinated operation in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The operation, carried out in Gayama village, followed credible intelligence reports pointing to the location of suspected criminal hideouts in the area.
