The police in Niger State foiled a bandit attack on Nasko in the state’s Magama Local Government Area.
DSP Wasiu Abiodun, the state spokesman, said on Sunday that scores of bandits had been neutralized, a large herd of cattle had been recovered, and 20 abducted victims had been released.
He claimed that on Saturday, bandits and terrorists attacked some villages near Nasko in Magama and rustled a large number of cattle.

He went on to say that the police had sent reinforcements, and that military operatives and vigilantes had joined in the search.
He explained that a two-hour gun battle ensued on the Ibeto cattle route as the hoodlums attempted to flee with the cattle.
One AK-47 magazine with 30 rounds of live ammunition, seven telephone handsets, and a Honda motorcycle were recovered at the scene.
The spokesman asked residents for help in ridding the state of banditry and other crimes.
