Operatives of the Nigerian Police have reportedly rescued six staff of the University of Abuja, who were kidnapped by gunmen on Tuesday.
The rescued professors have since been reunited with their families, according to a police statement.
Spokesperson for the Federal Capital Police Command, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the report via a statement early Thursday morning.

“The FCT Police Command wishes to inform members of the public that all abducted victims of the University of Abuja were rescued and reunited with their families through a joint operation with other security agencies. More details coming soon,” Josephine said.
The report did not however disclose if the N300 million ransom demanded by the kidnappers was paid subsequent to the rescue operation.
Two professors, alongside a non-academic staff, and three others were kidnapped from their official quarters by the gunmen.
