According to the state command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the suspects, Chukwuma Bartholomew and Igwe Monday, confessed to the crime during interrogation and led the police to the forest where they buried the victims.
“They are responsible for kidnappings and abductions in the Ijebu-Igbo area. They kidnapped their victims, demanded ransom, and then killed them,” Odutola said.
The police arrested the suspects on June 28, 2024, after a thorough investigation and exhumed the corpses with the help of the suspects.
The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, and the anti-kidnapping squad were present during the exhumation process.
This breakthrough comes just five days after the anti-kidnapping squad killed two suspected kidnappers in a gunfight and rescued several victims, including Indian nationals.
