Popular Ondo Politician Escapes Death as Gunmen Assassinate Father

Popular Ondo politician Olamiposi Awodunmila has escaped death by the whiskers following an attack on her by unknown Gunmen.

Popularly known as Mrs. Posi Emmanuel, the politician’s father, was unfortunately killed in the attack that occurred on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.

The incident has left palpable fear and tension among residents in the town of Okitipupa in the Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Our correspondent reliably gathered that some persons suspected to be hired assassins invaded the town with every orchestration to sniff life out of the politician popularly known as Hon. Mrs Posi Emmanuel, who hails from the community.

An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, described the incident as unfortunate, adding that with the generosity of the politician, no one would envisage anyone could be after her life.

He told our correspondents that while the politician escaped, his father, Pa. Awodumila was unlucky as he was murdered in cold blood.

A palm oil processing factory belonging to the politician was also said to have been burnt down. Our finding shows that the ugly development is under investigation by the Nigerian Police.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relation Officer of Ondo Command, Superintendent Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, described the incident as a ‘serious one’ adding that an investigation has been opened into the case.

It is worthy of note that Posi Emmanuel has been in the public service for more than a decade and has held several offices of trust.

She was a supervisor in Okitipupa Local Government Arra and was also a leading House of Assembly aspirant at a point.
