Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has stated that the planned nationwide protest is for poor Nigerians. The protest, themed #EndBadGovernance, is scheduled from August 1 to August 10, 2024, and has sparked significant media discussion over the past week.

In a viral social media video, Portable explained that he joined the 2020 #EndSARS protest because he was poor at the time. He pointed out that billionaires like Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola do not participate in protests.

“They said that I joined the protest in 2020. It was then, poor thinking! Now that I have money, I am thinking like a wealthy person,” he said. “Have you ever seen Otedola and Dangote protesting? You won’t see people like Dele Momodu. Better mind your business! I didn’t have money back then. I’m now thinking like a rich man.”

Portable had previously announced that he wouldn’t join the protest because he is now financially comfortable.

Portable gained fame in 2021 with the release of his hit single ‘Zazoo Zeh,’ featuring Olamide and Poco Lee.
