On Thursday, a nationwide blackout struck millions of homes and businesses across the country.

The national power grid experienced a catastrophic collapse, leaving citizens in the dark.

Managed from Osogbo, Osun State, the grid faltered around 4:30 pm, marking the fourth collapse in 2024.

The Eko Electricity Distribution Company confirmed the power outage via X.

It said:

Kindly be informed that there was a system collapse at 16:28hrs which has resulted in a loss of power supply across our network.

“We are currently working with our partners as we hope for speedy restoration of the grid. We will keep you updated as soon as power supply is restored.”

According to reports, At 4 pm, the grid output stood at 2,984 megawatts, but within an hour, it plummeted to zero, leading to the shutdown of all 21 connected plants by 5 pm.
