The Jimeta Area Court I in Yola, Adamawa State has arraigned one Kefas Brandford on charges of cheating and criminal breach of trust on Suleiman Ibrahim, an accountant with the Yobe State Ministry of Finance.
Brandford, an indigene of Ganye Local Government Area of the state was found guilty of collecting money from the accountant on the excuse of linking him with a native doctor.
The native doctor was said to make the accountant successful.

Brandford promised to link Ibrahim with the native doctor based in Ganye, in the southern part of Adamawa, who will pray to turn Ibrahim’s fortunes around rapidly.
Additionally, Ibrahim was to gain easy promotion in his place of work and become wealthy.
Reports stated that Ibrahim began paying money into Brandford’s bank account to buy chickens and rams for sacrifices, among other things that he requested.
Brandford swindled the accountant of money in several installments over a period totalling N277,000 before Ibrahim relealised he was being duped.
It was gathered that all transactions were made on phone, adding that both partners have never met physically.
Tired of not seeing the results of
Brandford’s promises, the victim arrived in Adamawa State in August 2022 where he finally met and got Brandford arrested.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim had called the suspect on phone to take him to the native doctor but was told that the native doctor had been sent on an errand by the Gangwari Ganye and could not be reached.
Ibrahim who had lodged at a hotel, mobilised the police in Ganye and apprehended and had him arraigned before the court were he pleaded guilty to the charge against him.
Justice Mathias Nuhu further ordered that the suspect be remanded at a correctional centre.
The case was then adjourned to October 10.
