The Presidency has slammed Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi over his comments on Nigeria’s economic crisis, accusing him of plotting to destabilize the country with “misleading” statistics.

Peter Obi had raised concerns about the economic crisis in Nigeria, highlighting the country’s decline in GDP growth rate from 6.72% in 2014 to 2.79% in 2015.

However, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, countered Obi’s claims, saying “The big question is why this economic review at this time? The motive is clear: he wants to work up his mob plotting to destabilize the country from next week.”

Onanuga further stated, “Labour Party failed presidential candidate, Peter Obi has come up with his misleading, half-truth statistics again.” He questioned Obi’s intentions, saying “he aims to work up his mob plotting to destabilize the country from next week.”
