- Presidency warns against spreading unverified claims
The Presidency has dismissed reports claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu plans to replace his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, insisting that there has been no change in the leadership structure of the President’s office.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Presidency clarified that reports suggesting President Tinubu is considering the removal of Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff are false and misleading.

The statement, signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, stressed that no such decision has been taken and that the reports did not originate from any official source.
According to the Presidency, Gbajabiamila continues to function as Chief of Staff, while Hakeem Muri-Okunola remains in his position as Principal Private Secretary to the President.

“There has been no change in the status, structure, or leadership of the Office of the Chief of Staff,” the statement said.
It added that both officials are fully carrying out their assigned duties, with no reshuffle, replacement, or internal crisis within the Presidency.
The Presidency condemned the circulation of what it described as deliberate falsehoods, accusing mischief-makers of using social media to spread confusion and create unnecessary tension within government.
“The public and media organisations are urged to verify information from credible and authoritative sources before sharing or publishing such claims,” the statement warned.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and good governance, the Presidency said it would continue to respond promptly to misinformation capable of misleading Nigerians or undermining confidence in public institutions.
Gbajabiamila, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, was appointed Chief of Staff to President Tinubu in June 2023, following the President’s inauguration.
