Senator Abdulaziz Yari, representing Zamfara West, has claimed that the Nigerian Presidency is no longer being run from within the Aso Rock Villa, alleging that external forces have taken control of national decision-making.
Yari also declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is effectively caged inside the Presidential Villa.

The former Zamfara State governor made the remarks on Wednesday during the One Nigeria Project Conference in Abuja.
According to him, those expecting foreign intervention—especially from former US President Donald Trump—are wasting their time, insisting that Nigeria’s future can only be shaped by Nigerians themselves.
“This country called Nigeria… America says theirs is God’s own country, but Nigeria is even more of God’s own country,” Yari said.
He recalled several moments in Nigeria’s history, including the June 12 crisis, noting that despite repeated upheavals, the country has remained intact due to divine intervention.

On calls for international assistance, particularly from Western powers, Yari said: “Don’t call Trump. It’s Nigeria’s business. Trump has no business in Nigeria. He can’t solve Nigeria’s problems. Only Nigerians can.”
The senator also disclosed that he had visited President Tinubu the night before the event, informing him of his participation in the conference.
He accused Nigeria’s elite of exploiting the President while publicly criticising him.
“The problem is the elite,” he said. “You see people abusing Tinubu because they know the problem more than the truth.”
Yari then made the most striking claim of his speech, alleging that powerful individuals outside the Villa are running the Presidency from behind the scenes.
“Those close to the Presidency know that the Presidency is being run from outside the Villa, not inside,” he said.
“We already have the President caged there. We locked him, but we do the operations.”
He urged political leaders to reassess their responsibilities and the trust placed in them by Nigerians.
