Peter Obi Accuses INEC of Supporting Tinubu

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of bias.

According to the former Anambra governor, INEC could be supporting the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.

He said this while reacting to a preliminary objection filed by INEC at the Tribunal asking the tribunal to throw away the petitions of Obi and his party.

Daily Report Nigeria recalls that Obi is challenging the outcome of the 2023 presidential election that produced APC’s Bola Tinubu as winner.

In his reaction to INEC’s objection, Obi faulted the electoral umpire for standing by Tinubu  calling to mind that noth the Supreme Court and the Appeal Court have cautioned the body to remain neutral  fair and focused in its dealings.

The Labour Party’s presidential candidate said it was not only an embarrassment but a repudiation of the duty for INEC to raise a preliminary objection against a petition on behalf of a candidate in an election it conducted.

Stressing that he expected the Prof. Mahmood Yakubu-led Commission to exercise neutrality in all litigations, Obi described INEC’s preliminary objection he and his party’s petition as misconceived.
