Professor Adesola Ajayi Appointed New VC for First Technical University

The Governing Council of First Technical University, Ibadan, has appointed Professor Adesola Ajayi as the university’s Vice-Chancellor.

Professor Olanike Adeyemo, Protem Council Chairman, made the announcement in a statement.

According to the statement, Ajayi will succeed the university’s founding Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ayobami Salami.

According to our source, the university is one of the tertiary educational institutions owned by the Oyo State Government.

The university, which is located in Ibadan, was founded during the administration of the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi.

Adeyemo explained in the statement that Ajayi’s appointment followed the Council’s consideration of the Joint Council and Senate Selection Committee recommendations.

She stated that the meeting took place on Monday.

According to her, Ajayi’s appointment is for a single five-year term.

The appointment will be effective on May 9, 2022.

Ajayi was said to have emerged after a rigorous examination in accordance with the University’s establishment laws.

The new VC is the university’s current Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

In 1991, he graduated with honors from the Faculty of Agriculture, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, with a B.Agric. in Plant Science (First Class Honours).

Ajayi is from Igbojaye in Oyo State’s Itesiwaju Local Government Area.

In 1997, he received his M.Phil. (Plant Science) degree from the same university, with a specialization in Plant Breeding/Seed Production. He received the Doctor of Agricultural Science degree.
