A prophet has absconded after crowds at his gathering created a stampede that claimed over 100 Lives.

The prophet, identified as Bhole Baba is said to be the organizer of the religious gathering known as a satsang, in Mughal Garhi village in Uttar Pradesh, India’s most populous state on Tuesday, July 2.

Speaking to newsmen on Wednesday, July 3, the Minister of State for Education, Sandeep Singh said there was a crowd rush, which left 121 people dead and 35 others injured after a large number of people rushed to touch Bhole Baba’s feet, leading to a crush.

He added that a total of 72 bodies have been identified so far, and dozens of injured people are being treated in nearby hospitals, according to local health officials

Almost all those killed were women, Singh said earlier, with at least seven children also among the dead.

The police are currently on the lookout for the prophet, as he has been accused of accused of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, wrongfully restraining a person, causing the disappearance of evidence or providing false information
