Protest Erupts in ATBU over Killing of Final-Year Student by Robbers
A students’ protest erupted on Monday at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU, Bauchi over the killing of a final-year student, Joseph Agbabaidu by armed robbers.
The armed robbers reportedly stabbed Agbabaidu while attempting to steal his phone on Saturday evening at about 7 p.m.
The 500-level Student in the Department of Geology was on his way to his residence at Yelwan Tudu – about one kilometre from the school gate when he was stabbed by the robbery gang.
He reportedly died on Sunday morning after being attended to by health officials.

One of the protesting students (name withheld) said:
“In the wake of this heartbreaking loss, we implore the school management, the police, and the Bauchi State government to prioritize and enhance the security of students within the state.
“Our community should not have to endure such sorrow. Proactive measures are crucial to preventing further tragedies.
“May the soul of Agabaidu Obiaje Joseph rest in peace.”
