Belgium held their nerves to struggle pass an impressive Canada side at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Red Devils secured all three points courtesy of a Michy Batshuayi goal in the dying minute of first half.

Canada had a chance to go ahead early on the match but star player Alphonso Davies played his spot kick into the arms of Thibous Courtois as Belgium struggled to find depth.

The European giants still put on a lot of work to deprive the underdogs, who had multiple scoring chances from finding the net.

The win leaves Belgium on top spot in Group F following a scoreless draw between Morroco and Croatia earlier in the day.

Japan Beats Germany

Meanwhile, Japan caused what would be a second upset at the ongoing showpiece as they came from behind to beat Germany 2-1 in Group E.

The Germans had taken the lead early in the first half courtesy of an Ilkay Gundogan penalty.

Japan rallied from behind to snatch all three points in quick succession midway into the second half.

Ritsu Doan made it 1-1 on 75 minute before Takuna Asano took the game beyond the Germans on seven minutes from full time.

The other match in Group E saw 2010 winners, Spain put seven goals past Costa Rica.
