Quincy Promes, the former Netherlands international and current player for Spartak Moscow, has been handed a hefty six-year prison sentence for his role in smuggling over 1,350kg of cocaine.
The 32-year-old was implicated last May in the trafficking of cocaine valued at £65 million. Authorities intercepted two shipments totaling 1,363 kilos of cocaine at the port of Antwerp in January 2020.

Despite his absence at the Amsterdam court hearing, Quincy Promes vehemently denied any involvement in the drug smuggling operation.
Reports suggest that the ex-Ajax forward may appeal the verdict, although no official confirmation has been made.
