Oluwatobilola Amusan, the world record holder in the women’s 100 meters, was vindicated of doping accusations by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) of World Athletics.
Amusan had faced provisional suspension by the AIU following inquiries into her missed whereabouts tests earlier the previous month.
Renowned for breaking the 110m hurdles record in the prior World Championships held in Oregon, U.S., Amusan had been under suspicion of evading anti-doping tests conducted by AIU agents.
Defying the allegations, she maintained her innocence, asserting that there might have been a miscommunication along the way.

Reports from Budapest, Hungary, the host of the upcoming World Championships, indicated that a tribunal composed of three arbitrators cleared Amusan of two out of three test failures. The Nigerian athlete argued that the tester had not made sufficient efforts to locate her.
In light of this development, sources at the AFN conveyed that the athlete is set to join her fellow compatriots in Budapest, in preparation for the commencement of the World Championships tomorrow.
A tweet shared by AIU on their official Twitter account read:
“AIU Head Brett Clothier has indicated it is disappointed by this decision and will review the reasoning in detail before deciding whether to exercise its right of appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport within the applicable deadline.”
Posting on her Facebook, a thrilled Amusan expressed:
“This morning, I found out that the independent tribunal that heard my case has ruled that I did not violate the whereabouts rules and as a result I will not be sanctioned and none of my results will be precluded.
“I generally have been and consistently will be an ally of clean sport.
“To my five fingers, God is the greatest and I genuinely appreciate y’all for the support.”
In the meantime, numerous sports lovers expressed a sigh of relief upon hearing the news and extended congratulations while encouraging her to set even more records.
